Since snow season is still upon us, I thought to share my travel guide of a beautiful spot in the Sierra’s.
Most people have heard of Mammoth Lakes, and a lot of people visit Mammoth mountain during the winter months. However, if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with no crowds, almost no lines, and a slightly lower elevation, then June Lake is your place! I love how beautiful and serene it is here and you really come to feel like a local. Good news, it’s only 25 minutes away from Mammoth!
This winter we took a trip with the family and enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this and this condo. I highly recommend these two. The balcony views of Gull Lake and June Mountain are spectacular! Honestly, no better way to wake up in the morning than with a cup of hot coffee or tea and views. I could easily stay for a week+!
For Adults
June Lake has a lot to offer for adults!
Ski & Snowboarding – You can buy your lift tickets here or you might be interested in adult lessons or private lessons, whatever it may be, June Mountain has you covered.
Spa & Fitness Center – Just minutes away from our condo, with 40+ spa treatments and an indoor pool, this place is a must when you’re here! They are busy so book your appointment ahead of time (I recommend 48hrs in advance).
June Lake Brewing – Everyone I know raves about this place, including my family! Delicious selections, unique space, friendly and chill people.
For Kids
Ski & Snowboarding – Kids 12 and under ski and ride the lift for free! YAY! I don’t have kids, but this is something to be excited about! You can also book a kids group lesson or a private lesson.
Nearby sledding for kids – if your kids have their own foam sledding pads or sledding gear, you can take a short drive outside of June Lake (highway 158), turning right onto the 395 (as if heading toward Mammoth), and after about 7 minutes, on your left hand-side you will see an open terrain with a tall hill that many parents take their kids to go sledding. You can’t miss it. Always plenty of cars parked around this area.
For Everyone
Snowmobile Adventures – They offer guided tours, self-guided tours, rentals and family rides. Kids have the option of riding in a sleigh that is attached to the snowmobile. So much fun for everyone! You can book your reservation here.
Interlaken Hot Tubs – Enjoy a nice hot jacuzzi after a long day in the snow. These come with the condos, so be sure to book yours here.

February 3, 2017 at 9:26 pmThis sounds like the perfect resort and I like that it is close to Mammoth but not as crowded. It is amazing that kids ski free under 12! I definitely need to check this resort out. I was loving those photos of you on Instagram and all your winter looks. You are the chicest snow bunny ever! xoxo, Christine
