I chat with many of you daily, and have come to know some really amazing people in this blogging community. So I thought it would be fun to take this opportunity and share a little more openly about myself, what makes me me, and more!
20 Fun Facts About Me:
- I immigrated to the US, was born in Bulgaria and came here when I was 6 years old.
- I flew to America on TWA, which doesn’t exist anymore!
- The first time my parents gave me a McDonald’s hamburger, I cried. It was too big and I thought it smelled funny. lol
- Swiss dark chocolate is my jam.
- When I first came to America, I was in second grade and for the first two months I did not speak any english, but no one had any idea that I spoke NO ENGLISH, they just thought I was a quiet kid … 3 months later I couldn’t stop talking. lol
- My parents were (and still are) so much into fashion, that the first thing I ever wanted to be was a fashion designer.
- I love pickled things. Back in the day in Bulgaria we didn’t have many fresh vegetables in the winter-time (1980s – early 90s) and we had to pickle and preserve almost everything.
- I wore braces for too many years to keep count. And my teeth are still not perfect!! lol
- In high school I was the girl that was friends with everyone, I guess I never really understood what cliques were or why they existed.
- Growing up I would always cook with whomever was in the kitchen.
- I got married to the same man twice, on two different continents, two years in a row.
- I’ve swam in the ocean many times, but I’m terrified of being underwater. The pressure in my ears freaks me out. lol
- I have great respect for where food comes from. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents and I got to know what it’s like to cook from scratch, including watching my grandpa fetch a fresh chicken out of the backyard.
- I have a healthy distrust of the government which comes from my childhood days of growing up in a family that lived through a communist regime.
- I have recipes that have been passed down in my family for generations and my husband says I’m a naturally talented cook. For the most part, I can recreate a dish just from tasting it.
- I choose to live passionately.
- I love DIY projects and I am not afraid of hard work or power tools.
- My favorite accessories are shoes, sunglasses and handbags. Pretty much in that order.
- When I graduated from college my whole family moved back to Europe and I’ve been alone here since. It’s been a while now, but we FaceTime all the time and my brother is moving back to LA, finally!!
- My parents gave me 3 degree options to pursue: Medicine, Law or Architecture. I have my degree in Architecture … and guess what, I’m currently NOT using it. However, design is still a huge part of my life and it influences everything I do!
